Amandrua, you are spot on with your analysis. If Muhoozi is genuinely interested in becoming a presidential candidate, then he should resign as CDF. It does not make sense to remain in this situation where there is continued confusion about the role of the military and whether the Constitution is being fully respected. Muhoozi should understand that he cannot simply inherit his fatherโs position and become President. If he wants to lead Uganda, he should stand in his own name, present his vision to the Ugandan people, and convince them through democratic means of why he deserves their support not use the military as a means of overthrowing or taking over government. Museveni went to the bush to fight a government that was violating human rights and undermining the will of the people. To me, what is happening today raises serious questions about whether that history is now contradicting the principles that Museveni once claimed to fight for. Ugandans are not stupid. They understand the importance of constitutionalism, democracy, and the rule of law. The Constitution must be respected, and all political parties and candidates should be allowed to participate in free and fair elections without intimidation, interference, or the involvement of the military. If Muhoozi believes he has what it takes to lead Uganda, then he should prove it through the ballot not through the barracks.
