There’s a theory, Bobby can still be alive he just gains powers from the night, hence why he’s blue and has a star to resemble stars from space. Aka, night (And why Benny is yellow and gains powers from the sun). actually I saw another theory that Bobby is the blue mail box that kills buddy because buddy turned him into the mail box and ripped out his mouth so he couldn't say anything

I think a plausible reason why buddy spared benny is because benny was making the objects that were in the show. Looking at his table there seems to be a lot of body parts that are very similar to the ones we see with the "alive" objects like the mailbox and the couch.

The dark monster is most likely Bobby, since the shapes on the unicorns connect to something; the heart shape needs love, the sun shape needs sunlight, and the star shape probably connects to the night, so Bobby might be the dark monster we see, especially since we only see the dark monster at night.
