I was at my previous job 17.5yrs. Got tired of not having backup, so I turned in my 5 wk notice of early retirement. On Wednesday of the second week after turning in my notice, my job was posted with a starting salary $10K more than what I was making. On Thursday I asked my boss about it. He had no response. No remorse. I put my building key and gate badge on my work station and walked out. He didn’t even know I’d left till he came into work on Monday, saw my key and badge, and then had to run around and try to figure out how to do my job. I’ve been out of there now a year, but still working on burnout recovery. I regret the last 5 yrs I was there. I was far too loyal to them. Never again.

I worked for a company as a top performer & they don’t give a shit one way or another,, as long as the ass kissers are there then they get noticed… I had a boss that was 100 percent an ass kisser… his top performers all quit!!

This is true for publicly traded companies. Privately owned can be vastly different. I work for a company who in its 72 years of existence hasn’t ever laid somebody off. They’ve fired people for incompetence, but never once laid someone off
