@drhidef: THE TRUTH ABOUT SCAR THERAPY 👀 Let’s talk scars! First, if you have a high-tension surgical scar, like from an arm lift or tummy tuck, no cream or tape is going to magically fix a scar that is being pulled under significant tension. These scars can sometimes become raised, thick, or widened. If revision is already part of the plan, don’t waste money trying every scar product beforehand. Once the skin has had time to relax and heal, surgically revising the scar can create a flatter, lower, and more refined result. Now, once you have your final scar and you’re looking for general scar aftercare, simple silicone scar tape can be a great option and is easy to find at places like CVS. I personally don’t find most scar creams to be as impressive, and many products make claims that aren’t well supported. For additional scar care, microneedling can be helpful in some patients, while certain lasers, including IPL and pulsed-dye lasers, may help with persistent redness. But remember, many scars naturally continue to fade and lighten over 1–2 years!
