Wait, I'm AuDHD, and perfectly understand the concept, and nuances, of consent. Are there literally men who try and say they don't know, because they're on the spectrum?

As an Autistic woman, a lot of autistic boys were raised in a way that meant that everything negative they did was blamed on their Autism. So these men don’t ever consider that they’re actually a terrible person and that has nothing to do with being autistic.

There are a lot of myths about autistic romance. I’m afraid that Love on the Spectrum proliferates a lot of them. Just an interesting counterpoint to the idea that autistic people “don’t feel the spark”. People, all autistic people are different and to some NT people, the way an autistic person might feel ‘the spark’ or express that feeling may not make sense to them. On the other hand autistic people are very susceptible to what psychologists refer to as “limmerance”. That is a word for feeling that ‘spark’ with untra intensity. In those cases, that romantic feeling often becomes a special interest . It can be pretty extreme. But remember, it really is a spectrum. If you know one autistic person then you know ONE autistic person. We aren’t nearly as similar to each other as most people think.

Men using their autism as an excuse is infuriating to me as an autistic woman. I’ve never been given grace for it and I’ve been in relationships since I was 14
