@drmohammedalo: 🚨 Your risk calculator score means almost nothing. I had a patient hand me a low risk score and feel relieved. I had to tell him the truth. 🫀 In the REACT study, 57% of healthy adults already had plaque building in their arteries. The standard risk calculator missed nearly all of them. That matters because a formula built from age, cholesterol, and blood pressure cannot see what is actually inside your vessel walls. It estimates. It does not look. 🩺 I am a cardiologist. I have hundreds of patients who walked in with a normal risk score and a coronary calcium scan that told a completely different story. 🔬 Here is what the science actually says: ✅ A risk calculator uses population averages, not your arteries. ✅ A coronary calcium score or advanced imaging shows your actual plaque burden. ❌ A low risk score does not mean a clean artery. ❌ Feeling fine does not mean you are fine. The question is no longer whether you are at risk on paper. The question is what is actually happening inside your vessels right now. A patient who gets imaged in their 40s can catch plaque a decade before a calculator would ever flag them. That is the difference between a silent heart attack and a preventable one. ❤️ Bottom line: A risk calculator is a guess. Imaging is data. REACT showed most plaque in "low risk" adults goes undetected by standard scoring. Ask your doctor about a coronary calcium score. It is quick, low radiation, and it tells you the truth. I tell every patient the same thing. If you have not looked, you do not know.
