@premierrarecoins: A real silver coin recovered from the Whydah Gally—one of the most famous pirate shipwrecks ever discovered. The Whydah was captured by pirate Samuel “Black Sam” Bellamy in 1717 and became his flagship. That same year, it sank during a violent storm off Cape Cod, taking Bellamy, his crew, and their treasure with it. The wreck remained lost for more than 250 years until explorer Barry Clifford discovered it in 1982. Its identity was confirmed by the recovery of the ship’s bell, inscribed “THE WHYDAH GALLY 1716.” Thousands of coins and artifacts have since been recovered from the wreck, with much of the collection remaining together for preservation and exhibition. This silver coin is one of the pieces that entered private hands—an authentic piece of treasure connected directly to the Golden Age of Piracy. #shipwreck #piratetreasure #coincollecting #highend #historicalartifacts
I found one on the beach last year.Metal detecting. It's a very small one half real cob about the size of a dime can't tie it to any shipwreck, but very cool.Still and it's an early one late.1500 early 1600
