Just like Holy Spirit and Holy Ghost, translates Honhom Kronkron and Sunsum Kronkron. Both have the same meaning just that Nyame honhom is used more often than Nyame Sunsum in oral Akan.

So when it comes to the words HONHOM and SUNSUM they are used interchangeably depending on the subject matter. In the human dispensation SUNSUM refers to the Soul And HONHOM refers to the spirit but on the dispensation of God they both stand for the spirit of God. This is because MAN has a SOUL and the breath of God which is the spirit of God but GOD does not have a SOUL so they all refer to the Spirit of God. So you are not wrong to use both to mean the SPIRIT OF GOD. Thank you.

In our Akan language, there is nothing wrong with your songs. Sometimes, we use certain words interchangeably, and the context makes it clear what we mean. However, in Akan/Twi grammar, these are different things altogether: shadow is “sunsum,” spirit is “honhom,” and soul is “ɔkra.”
