@caitlinolson_itp: Ever notice how your throat can react before you’ve even figured out what you’re feeling? A little tightening. More swallowing. Your jaw gets involved. Maybe your voice changes or suddenly it feels harder to get the words out. There’s physiology behind this. Stress and strong emotion can affect the muscles involved in your throat and swallowing, creating that very real “lump” sensation. Somatically, we don’t need to immediately decide what it means. We can get curious about what was happening when it showed up. Were you about to say something? Holding something back? Trying to stay composed? Feeling overwhelmed? Or did it seemingly come out of nowhere? Try giving the area a little attention instead of immediately trying to push the sensation away. Soften your jaw, let your tongue relax, add a gentle hum or longer exhale, and notice what changes. #traumahealing #somaticpractice #nervoussystemsupport #okotoks #womenshealth
