stay at home mom here... we have 1 bank account and all money is OURS. I write out bills for every paycheck and anything beyond that we decide together where it goes.

married 20 yrs,still raising 5 kids and its been made clear since day one that its his money and if I need or want anything for me or the kids i have to ask him for it. im not to touch his money. and if he buys me anything I have to find a way to pay him back.

Why doesn’t the SAHM have 100% access to the bank account? My wife and I have separate bank accounts and 1 join account. When we had our first kids she we decided that staying home would be best, I gave her complete access to my checking account. Not doing this is abuse in my opinion.

So, will they use that money to pay for household expenses? If so, they why pay them in the first place other than the government to be able to tax it some more? If not, then what are we talking about? Now the earner has to work additional hours or get a 2nd job to cover the gap, or else the family will end up on the street. How about you don't get paid because all of your living expenses are paid for. I've known many live-in nannies that didn't make a wage because their room and board was paid for. So it was an even exchange.

The stay at home parent is getting free rent, utilities, food, clothing, spending money, etc. The household chores and child care are what they do to earn a paid-for lifestyle.

I was a live in nanny for 2 years. I was paid 4000 a month. 4 kids, 2 dogs, 2 adults. I did all the cooking, cleaning, laundry, homeschooling, potty training, child care, grocery shopping, even scrubbed floors by hand, etc. I am a SAHM now. 750 a month for that is an insult. Sorry.

The stay at home gets everything paid for. Food, housing, bills etc. why would you pay them a salary on top of that unless they pay 50%

you must split the salary of the one working outside the home, both are working. the one working outside the home wants paid for their work so why shouldn't the person working inside the home be paid as well

Stay at home mom here I don’t have to ask for money but if it’s a big purchase than yes we talk about it but for normal day buying something for my self or the kids nope I buy it and when he gets home oh isn’t this cute glad my husband isn’t like that if anything my husband ask me if he can get it
