but it is what Amazon did and that's part of the reason people are skeptical about building a wrapper. Amazon figures out that Product A is killing it and buys them or finds a really profitable niche and goes to China to create a competitor you can't outrank. ChatGpt has proven they will build the main things but they cannot and will not build everything. So choose things they cannot and will not

Yes, some AI wrappers will survive. But that doesn't mean the majority of today's AI-assistant startups have meaningful differentiation or durable businesses. A lot of people are not discovering new problems. They're discovering what other startups are already building and then reproducing it with a slightly different interface, positioning, or model. That's not necessarily entrepreneurship at its best. It's often feature replication disguised as innovation. Real innovation doesn't start with: What can I build with the latest AI model? It starts with: What painful problem do people have that is still poorly solved?

I think it's a question of 100% focus because look at google meet and zoom it's hard for a generalist to match the laser focus of the specialist

It’s crazy how most startups are just tied around 2 major companies. It’s something worth talking about more

Did I see you on an episode of Family Feud? Here’s my take on this subject. This time, Apple, Google, and Microsoft are building alongside companies like Anthropic, NVIDIA, and OpenAI. They’re investing billions of dollars and need to generate revenue to recoup those investments. That’s why OpenAI is looking to expand its enterprise business. Why allow someone else using your platform to make the money when you can make it yourself?

You are forgetting one point - apple's app store was just a plattform because the plattform could not just start juilding the apps from it by itself. While chatgpt can at some point just get the command to create saas wrapper products from all information which it received from the original wrappers.

I agree with you. As long as they aren’t just wrappers, that game is over. But apps actively using AI inside is going to be the standard. The most important job for the app developers will stay the same: solve a customer’s problems by understanding them. The customer doesn’t care about if the code is Java or C#. Or if it is done via an AI prompt or a big event tree. Customers only want the problem solved at a price making the problem worth solving.

That’s why you build around problems or data and use them as your moat. If you rely on just the model and have an “ai wrapper” yes these company’s will make you redundant.

Good video and its that simple as long as there is api there is ai wrapper also they make way to much through api so would be stupid of them

yes you are essentially right on the points: you defined underneath the ai per se. You go beyond the literary definition and come to the application, but not general application. you are talking about the ai resolving the real pains. 👍

You said the end user doesn’t care, then mentioned Harvey straight after. Do you really think law firms that use it don’t care what model is being used? Privacy is important. Also Harvey isn’t a ‘wrapper’ they trained a layer (when I last checked)

Awesome take, and it must be correct based on history. AI is infrastructure and there's not even money in being the model provider. The only returns will be the "AI wrapper" companies

depends on the wrapper, transcribing wrappers that has died as claude chatgpt and apple has integrated it in seamlessly. things like harvey or protex ai have the best lifecycles as they are more than a wrapper. vertical ai is the future not wrappers
