People do that to me all the time, I don’t know why, also people saying “because I said so” after I ask why they are making me do something I don’t want to is infuriating, or when they say I’m rolling my eyes when I’m literally not (I’m not autistic even)

I'm not autistic but I grew up with the same conversations. all from authority figures who weren't used to a kid actually being able to articulate their reasoning and defending their actions with logic.

The worst is being a teenager with strict parents, and you're just explaining your actions to be told you're giving attitude and making excuses. Meanwhile, I have no clue what tone is or how to control it. 😅

Ugh. People ask for an explanation, you explain and get told your making excuses, so you apologize then they ask if you even know what you’re apologizing for, so you explain again what your apologizing for then they say your not taking accountability because your still making excuses… no matter what you say it’s wrong

Some people just want to be abusive to children. That's it. That's the WHOLE reason a lot of us had problems... . It gets worse when you realize that some people became teachers explicitly because it put them into a position of power and authority over a marginalized and vulnerable population. . Also, some people became parents because informed consent was not an option and some people created kids so that THEY could finally be in charge in the house... . It was never about us.

This is exactly why I struggle with friendships and have gotten blocked so many times. I’m genuinely not trying to argue I’m trying to explain myself or make sure I’m understood. People would tell me I needed to “stop explaining, and explaining means being defensive and loooove to argue and that I needed therapy to learn how to stop explaining so people would like me. Eventually, I realized those friendships weren’t healthy for me. They never really tried to understand autism or learn how my communication style works; instead, my explanations were treated like a problem that needed to be punished or corrected. So I stopped those friendships and cut them off. I’m still learning how to communicate, but I don’t believe I should have to erase myself just to be accepted. Hate that sentence I am not arguing with you. I was not arguing in the first place you idiot I want to say that. Yes you have am answer for everything or you always want to be right. It sounds funny because it seems they always want to be right

That is largely why I just stopped talking. Explaining myself became a battle for my mental health, so going nonverbal became my escape. Now when I do try to explain, I fumble over my words and sound stupid.

I really hated when my parents would say shut up before I give you something to cry for. I didn't understand. did they want me to laugh when I got the belt? surely if I laughed I would've been hit harder or longer so I grew up confused as hell.
