This is how you should be doing your stand throws in the discus. Start with your power position. Right foot just past the middle, weight on the ball of the foot, and make sure your right heel lines up with your left toe. That setup alone fixes a lot of problems. From there, sweep the discus back smoothly and let the lower body lead the throw. You should feel a stretch build across your hips and torso before anything fires. A lot of throwers rush this and try to muscle the disc. That’s not the goal here. Even in this clip, I’m not throwing hard. It’s early in the session. I’m focused on one thing… getting a clean release off the fingers and a smooth, controlled flight. If you can’t hit good positions and a clean release in a stand throw, it’s going to show up even worse in the full throw. Dial this in first. Then build from there.
