@thenotoriousnef: Replying to @emmy🦋 On today’s episode of The GLOOW Grade, we’re reviewing the Aqualogica Radiance+ Water Light Fluid Sunscreen ☀️ This is the very first Indian sunscreen I’ve ever tried, and I’m loving it so much that I’m almost through the bottle lol! Thank you to everyone in my comments who recommended I try Southeast Asian sunscreen formulas- I have about a dozen other Indian spfs I ordered from Veeha Beauty and I can’t wait to wear test them! If you have any other Indian sunscreen or Southeast Asian sunscreen formulas you think I should try, please feel free to leave them in the comments (I will be placing an order for a few formulas from Thailand soon)! I also wanted to address the elephant in the room regarding some claims people have made about the integrity of commercial Indian sunscreen brands. When I did my own research to see if I could find credible sources about certain brands failing spf testing or not having the advertised ingredients, the only thing I could find was one instance of a skincare influencer in 2025 having an independent lab test some popular Indian sunscreens and having questionable results come back. However, without knowing the exact testing standards/methods (especially because some results were abnormally high) and not having further unbiased, non-anecdotal evidence to support those claims, I don’t think that’s wide enough of an evidence pool to completely write off an entire country’s suncare. There’s no reason why we should automatically denounce an entire country’s sunscreens when they’re using similar formulations to East Asian and European countries that are being praised for having the best sunscreens in the world lol. What do you guys think? 🤔💭 #indiansunscreen #asiansunscreen #lightweightsunscreen #nowhitecastsunscreen #sunscreenreview

It's funny that so many people don't trust Indian sunscreens because they're made in India, yet like 98% of generic medications for both Europe and the United States are manufactured in India.

try brazil, they have the highest population of black people. high humidity so it stays on, their hair care works great for black hair. So, why wouldn't their sunscreen work good for black skin.

as an Indian, we don’t hear about beauty products from India despite how good they are because western people don’t tend to like South Asians(remember, if it doesn’t apply, let it fly)

As an Indian woman, I think the best physical sunscreen I’ve used is LiveTinted’s HueGuard 3-in-1 (SPF 30 sunscreen, moisturizer and primer). It’s made by an Indian-woman-owned, cruelty-free company in the US and sold at Ulta. This product (in the pump applicator) goes on light and smooth, works beautifully under makeup, is actually reef-safe, feels amazing on the skin, and is particularly great for darker skin tones because it has a *very* slight golden sheen to it, which makes our skin tones look incredible. The major downside to this product is that it’s expensive, but I wait for it to go on sale, which happens pretty regularly.

I really like this one that I’m currently using from an Indian brand. It works great for my combination skin and I skip my moisturiser whenever I use it because it’s hydrating enough on its own. It’s super affordable too and honestly, it’s so good! This is the sunscreen I’ve repurchased the most, and it’s the one I tend to reach for most often from my current sunscreen stash.
You could also try the Wishcare SPF lip balm and sunscreens from 52 Sundaze and Episoft AC. They’re good too.
I could honestly go on and on about my recommendations for pharmacy sunscreens and other Indian brands. 😭

I use these and it feels really nice on my skin. It doesn't leaves any white cast, absorbs well and doesn't irritates my eyes. The formula is light so it doesn't feel thick and sticky on my skin which is good bc I live in hotter, dry, sweaty region of India. I have combination tanned skin.

South East Asia is Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia while South Asia is the Indian Subcontinent and includes Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. But you should try sunscreens from both places !

As a person of Indian descent, I never looked for two reasons, 1. Accessibility: a lot of Indian based brands don’t really ship world wide, 2. Skin lightening: a ton of Indian skin products have skin lightening in their formulas.

I’m always scared they’ll slip a bleaching agent in there. I’d rather go with Brazil where they like their darker color

As long as it’s not trying to whiten or bleach me I’m willing to try, sometimes with those countries I feel like they try to sneak that in to their formulas
