I’ve been a SAHM for 10yrs. My husband fortunately/unfortunately makes too much for us to get any relief. Would the money help? Yes. Would it be nice? Yes. However, the funds would be taken from programs to help SINGLE MOTHERS and low income families. I don’t want money that would be taken away from families who NEED it more

It’s sad because if they can do that… they could easily fully cover single mothers to get childcare so they can work and stack their money. Or pay for single mothers to go to school and pay for their child care so they can… it’s just crazy

This is gonna trap women in abuse marriage due to the fact that they have to be married. They have to have children to get this money so the more children that they have the more money that they’re gonna get, but the woman is gonna be stuck. She’s not gonna be able to leave because she doesn’t have a job so that’s gonna set her up to be abuse. She’s very vulnerable situation. This is actually terrible.

What exactly is 9k gonna cover is my idea? I can work and make 7x more and pay for high quality childcare instead. If you’re happy about the 9k I’m genuinely so concerned bc that’s like two months worth of working. Idk I would also NEVER be in a position where I wouldn’t work it’s just not for me.

I’m kinda tired of the “at the expense of” concept. Most single parents are eligible for government assistance including childcare subsidies. This is going to benefit the families who already stay home bc they don’t make enough to even cover childcare. Women who are making a decent amount of money on top of childcare costs aren’t going to leave the workforce for less than a grand a month per child. Not everything is a loss for women, we can admit that this is nice for the women who want to stay home with their children.

I love it! I hated the fact that they told me they would pay a family member to watch my child. I always thought why don’t you just pay me to watch my child? So I’m excited! I have a 7 month old baby and she’s not leaving my side until she can speak clearly. Telling everyone they need to work and send their kids to daycare is ridiculous and I work in daycares. I think all children should be home until they’re at least 2 years old. I understand that’s not a reality for everyone but that should be the goal.

Hmmm, aren’t they always saying people don’t wanna work? So now they’re… encouraging ppl not to work? 😅

I’m a married primary parent. I used to work full time and after I had my son, I thought I could return to work full time by working nights but unfortunately it didn’t work out that way. I’m only working once a week now when my husband is at home. He is working overtime to cover bills. I really enjoy staying at home raising my son. That 9k a year would really help me.. I completely agree with you though. They should propose a bill that helps all mothers

I think it’s great for the middle class families who still struggle and just miss the cut to qualify for any other assistance, but tax dollars go towards funding them. Everything doesn’t have to benefit everyone, no one was complaining when married people make just over the limit for help and can barely make ends meet.

With the current state of the economy and education I think they should absolutely be given subsidies for education and childcare. I think it should start with parents of differently abled children. Being married counts you out for so many gov programs. Middle class parents need a damn break and we still won’t get it. Also I think this is worth noting that it’s not specifically for women. It’s for the household. Only 1 parent has to be working. That doesn’t have to be the mom.

9k a year is a joke anyway. Reserve it for the single mothers and give them more.

Everyone complaining but the point is to help out working class families. Boohoo they’re not giving out 40k for single moms to pop a baby out for a check

A married couple who has a husband that works is crazy to give money to in my opinion. It’s so many single mothers who need the help vs someone who has someone paying their bills already. Make it make sense !

I think it’s great since Germany does the same for stay at home moms in the first year but they also help the single ones out too.

As a married working mother, this upsets me! I can’t just quit my job. I’ll be paying for other people to stay at home so they can “be mothers” well not all of us can do that! I understand a lot of SAHM sacrifice a lot financially, physically and mentally but so do we! The point of being SAHM is to BE AT HOME why on earth do they need money for daycare?

I knew you would respond :
its better to pay childcare instead. This will trapped alot of married women into unsafe marriages & punish single parents.

They just want to force women to stay home. Taking the money away from low income working mothers & childcare is insane and it’s just wrong. They are horrible - THIS is horrible

It doesn’t make sense…the reason so many women stay homes bc of cost of child care. It would just be better to provide childcare vouchers or provide universal child care.

This is another wealth transfer to rich/wealthier ppl. This is the same as school choice vouchers for private schools. NO!

I think it’s a double edged sword, it’s a good thing but it should go to all parents married or single.
