@astrokirsten: Saturn has TWO weird shapes! A hexagon and now a decagon! Unlike the hexagon, which has been observed since the Voyager missions in 1981, this ten-sided feature appears to have started forming around 2023. Like Saturn's hexagon, the decagon appears to be a jet stream in the planet's upper atmosphere. But here's the mystery: astronomers still don't know exactly how it formed. We can recreate Saturn's hexagon using simulations and laboratory experiments, but this ten-sided atmospheric feature has us scratching our heads. More observations from Hubble and JWST could reveal whether the decagon becomes a long-lasting feature or continues to change. My debut book Lost in Space is now a reality! It's full of cosmically curious stories that pique my fascination with space. A lot of bacteriophages are truncated icoshedron. They have 5 fold axes and at one of these 5-folds sits a portal. At this portal, the tail piece of the bacteriophage connects. The tail piece has been shown to be 12-subunit structure meaning, the 5-fold and the 12-subunit tailpiece interact AS A MISMATCH!! Insane evolution!!
This decagon and hexagon mismatch on Saturn reminds me of a bacteriophage.

I don't get it, it was discovered in 1981 and no one has ever heard of Saturn's hexagons until recently.. suggests there is a lot of other information that isn't public knowledge.

Vibrational frequency driven by its core formation, that is the only thing it can physically be and yes, the opposing shapes on the poles as in a decagon and a hexagon, could drive each others shape, if that is the most efficient shape to make atomically. Unlike human beings, the universe operates on total efficiency, whatever is the most efficient shape, element, molecule and so on, shall be formed as efficiently as atomically possible. The universe does not play dice …

I mean, pretty easy to figure out? Obviously something is being pushed out due differently to everything else due to weight and resistance, making a hex, if it can make a hex it can obviously make a dec, it can make every side until it’s a circle again. 😳
