I distanced myself from SAO for so long same with Fairy tail since I watched them in middle school. Rewatching them now yes the pacing is very fast but they do have good pillar main characters. Kirito does have plot armor but the way they portray his depression in the series is pretty damn good.

alicization arc especially hurts when he endures all his past trauma at face value while he's paralyzed in the middle of a war practically. the jp voice acting was so fucking good for that and I will die on that hill but it genuinely makes me immersed due to the jp va in that scene 🙏
