Good to know. Let a doctor say I’m able to be discharged. I’ll need their full govt name, DOB, home address, credit score check, 3 references, and work history. Because I will be DAMNED if my nurses will be stressed because of them.

I literally tell my patients “the only one who can discharge you is ME. Always ask me WHEN are you going to leave the hospital because I’m the only one that will give you a realistic estimate”

Stop telling them it’ll be a few mins. Break it down from jump. This is a long process. It often takes a few hours to get everything settled signed and delivered. Reasonable expectations.

This is actually super helpful for understanding WHY it seems to take so long for discharge, not that I would ever hit the call light to ask the same question three times. If only you could say "it's gonna take a long as it takes"
