I pay less at Sam’s for most things than I did at Publix. I only stop there if I need one or two items, and no matter what those items are, I’m absolutely having to pay double what I would anywhere else.

My local Publix is legitimately almost double the price of Walmart and Target in my area. The recipes in the bakery have also noticeably changed. It’s no longer worth it.

we only shop at Publix for their BOGO. Winn-Dixie for most of our meat. Aldi mostly for our vegetables and Walmart for everything else.

Yep. People also used to be okay(ish) with paying more for things because they were actually good quality. Now everything is expensive and bad quality with smaller quantities.

I started couponing there a couple of years ago and they’ve even gotten really tight on that. And I agree that if the service isn’t there and the subs don’t hit the same on top of the prices they can keep it.

Greed has companies using Doritos example...raise price 15% and lose 5% of customers. Doritos comes out ahead. They did this so many times that it has finally backfired.

July 2022 I sent my wife a message about how the cereal box we always bought had gone from 19.4oz to 18.4oz and the price was over $7 at Publix. By 2025 the same box was ~17oz and nearly $9 at Publix. In the same period of time they were only staffing the deli, hot case, and sandwich counters with 2 people and lines were backing up all the way to the bakery. I miss what Publix was, not what it is.

They used to famous for their bakeries. Now they don’t even bake in store. All the cookies, pies, most cakes and a lot of bread is baked in Lakeland or Jax and shipped to the store.

Publix doesn't seem to get that even people who won't shop elsewhere can't afford to spend too much more on groceries. They will just buy less and maintain the same budget. They swap to cheaper brands, store brands, hold out for sales, etc

I only go to Publix for BOGOs and when they have decent coupons. I get essentials like milk at Walmart.

The shareholders are not satisfied with making money, they are not satisfied with making a lot of money. They need to make more money every year even if that is at the expense of the employee or consumer.

I work for Publix. They have also been spending tons of money on renovations. Go to their FB Shareholders page. 100% Publix employees hates anyone who shops elsewhere.
