Deputy Bailey, 45, was doing what he did best—protecting his community—when gunfire erupted shortly after midnight near a convenience store in Hermanville, Mississippi. While bravely working alongside fellow law enforcement officers to safely disperse a crowd following a local festival, Deputy Bailey and a female bystander were struck by bullets. While the bystander is thankfully expected to recover, Deputy Bailey tragically succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. He leaves behind a devastated wife and children, along with a community that remembers him not just for his badge, but for his infectious positive energy, big heart, and deep love for his family. Deputy Bailey served with the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department for six years, always standing as a pillar of strength and safety. Right now, a major manhunt is underway led by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation. The FBI is offering a $25,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the shooter.
