so AI companies are subsidizing people to use it now.. hoping people become reliant on it.. then they will start raising the costs to use it? and people will feel forced to pay it then?

Well if they were expensive we would just hire people instead of using AI agents

In business it’s called a loss leader. Lose money to gain customers then up charge over time. People are quick to forget when instagram didn’t have ads or when Disney+ used to cost 6.99 and in 6 years more than doubled to 18.99.

we're training them. we're their data. we're creating datasets. we're paying their property taxes, their water, their electricity.

They hook you in, make you dependent on the service, and then, once you’re too reliant on it to downgrade, they start charging what they want. That could become a real problem with AI companies that are currently losing money on their subscription plans.

I think it one of the cheapest technologies in history. Are they waiting for businesses to become really dependent on it so they can increase the prices?

They are subsidizing the cost because this is the illicit drug model. Get people and companies to implement at the low cost so they are dependent and then they jack up the prices!! It initially they were charged by use they would not choose to use it. They are intentionally artificially skewing the cost benefit analysis for the initial use!!

ai is cheap because they're burning venture capital to get people hooked and when they cash runs out all the companies relying heavily on AI will be fucked

Facts, people will not pay a consumption model for AI. That is a dangerous model because you don’t know the actual bill for the result you really need. 😳

The subsidization is as not severe as they make it to be, because api is marked up anywhere between 10-200x ao that 14k is what they charge for it, not what it costs them

This is sounding how Uber used to operate at a loss so people got used to it, and now that they’re charging the real price it’s so expensive

So in a way the most anti-AI thing I can do is to use AI, since AI companies lose massive amounts of money every time someone uses them.

its like old cell phone contracts where minutes racked up fast and made your bill insanely high. or like getting on the internet on a motorola razr. it just was slow, expensive and not worth it at all.
