The movie just made me realize why Akaza was so set to either end Rengoku or recruit him. He saw the same determination in him that he once had. The desperate part of him who wanted to protect the people he cared for. I’m sure he couldn’t place why but I think deep down it was reminding him of his humanity. To him the easier answer was that he would make him stronger. In no universe could Rengoku kill Akaza. His determination to save everyone read as bloodlust. But because it wasn’t just that it made a change in Akaza. They’re so fated because they’re mirrors of each other on different paths. I kinda appreciate no one else got to kill Rengoku. There’s a bit of honor in the fact he died the way he did and who did it. Will always cry when I watch the Train movie though so I skip it.
