I just started buying Christmas gifts so I can buy a thing or 2 every paycheck and hide it in the closet to know for sure they get plenty on Christmas. If you love your children you find a way.

I do agree an experience can be a gift not just toys. However if I spent money on my man instead of my kids he would be pissed he’d sell it or return it and spend double on the babies.

I know someone like this. Depends on family and friends to buy her kids Christmas gifts. She also asks for gift cards for experiences that they can enjoy together. I stopped enabling a couple of years ago.

As a single mother I had a 4 gift Christmas rule. 1. A need 2. A want 3. A clothing outfit 4. A book. My kiddos would make a list of several things under each gift & I would buy with in my budget. They also got gifts from grandparents, aunts and uncles. I would do a vacation when I got tax money.

We prioritize experiences over toys and stuff at holidays too. Buying stuff for a boyfriend when you have kids is shady, but not giving them a bunch of gifts and going on a trip for Christmas isn’t bad.

Let me tell you, I will have absolutely nothing so my babies can have everything and more. I 1000% go way overboard for every holiday for my kids but won’t buy myself a shirt that fits. I take my kids to the zoo every single year and hopefully next year I can take them on vacation for the first time. I’d never go without them.
