TheKryptonite :
A lot of so-called “First Amendment auditors” say they’re recording to educate the public and hold people accountable. But it’s worth asking yourself an important question: what are their actual intentions? Are they really there to help the community, or could some people be using these situations to gather information about businesses, employees, security procedures, delivery schedules, license plates, or other details that could potentially be misused? For example, if someone is repeatedly recording a bank, documenting when an armored truck arrives, observing how busy the location gets, identifying employees or managers, or collecting vehicle information, it’s reasonable to ask what purpose that information serves. Not everyone who conducts an audit has bad intentions, and having a criminal record shouldn’t automatically determine someone’s motives. But before blindly taking their side, take a minute to look at the bigger picture and ask yourself: What exactly are they recording, why are they recording it, and what could that information be used for?
