One of my absolute FAVORITE pens of all pens is Pilot custom 823, mine is in amber. It's a daily filled pen. You can also get the custom nibs with the 823 (like the waverly). But mine is a medium which feels thinner than an Esterbrook Medium. It has a vacuum fill that lasts FOR DAYS!!! I'll tag you in my video.

My vote is for the Pilot Custom 823. I have it in a fine nib and it’s amazing. I have a Montblanc 146 ef also and prefer the 823. It definitely is on par or better than the other “grail” pens I have.

I love my 823. I got a cheaper vac fill first to see if I like it. Now I have the 823. Smooth, gold bib is bouncy, vac fill is easy and holds a lot.

The Pilot Custom 823 ink capacity is huge! The nib in broad glides like no other. I love a demonstrator and any ink color works! The Sailor is a scratchy, feedbacky pen. Can you handle that? I can only deal with Sailors jn broad. Big plus for that Sailor: It’s PURPLE!

I’m loving the Sailor 1911 L - Grape Expectations but it’s giving Sakura Dragon. 💜

I feel like it might matter based on what kind of nib you want. I got and haven’t received yet. The Pilot Custom 823 so that I could get the Falcon Nib.

I have the pilot custom 823 in a fine and it’s my favorite pen ever!!! So reliable, the piston filler gives me lots of ink capacity, and it’s so so smooth. It glides across the page which makes writing and sketching in my journals addicting

I feel like if you like the scratchyness of the Sailor, but feel like Pelikan is a gap in my collection and I want that falcon nib in a big bad way. I have steel nib Sailors and I got a gold nib and was a but disappointed because it just feels the same. still a great pen, but not unique for my personal collection

Sailor 1911L. You deserve it. Well you deserve the whole world so it’s hard to say. But you had a Kakuno… and this caliber Sailor def belongs in your collection! And we need to hear all about the gliiiiiiiide! And then we ask Hubby for the Pilot custom for Christmas! Win win. We make it work 😂😂😂

The Pilot Custom 823 in a Broad/Signature Nib. It is so smooth, like writing on glass. It’s such a great pen, high ink capacity. A true workhorse pen. And you already know Pilot has mastered their nibs and my writing experience with them has never been anything short of fabulous and definitely the definition of luxe 😌💅

Get both. I have both however wish I had researched the 1911s vs 1911L. I bought the s & so sorry I did. wishing I had bought the L. I also prefer the green 743 so I can put sparkly ink in it.

Ummmm I decided pilot custom 823. If you have a stationery store near you try all the nibs. I wasn’t sure where to go but they do write differently. I went to Yoseka and tried all the pilot custom, platinum 3776 and the sailor 1911L

you should try it first in a store. Pilot nibs are the smoothest but the sailor feedback is amazing. some people dont like the sailor feedback though so i suggest you feel writing with a their nibs before commiting to their more expensive pens. borrow from a friend or try it in a store or buy a cheaper pen of both like the sailor profit light or the pilot custom 74. personally though i love the sailor nibs more than the pilot nibs

I have both! But mine is the 1911S & Amber 823. They’re very different! If you prefer med/broad nibs, I would say 823 is your pen but if you LOVE a fine line… Sailor all the way. The feedback of a sailor is magic. I do prefer my Sailor, just because I love a finer nib and the 823’s smallest size is a F, which is still lovely and smooth. I just really love the Sailor experience.

Pilot Kaküno counts. Get the 1911L. The vacuum mechanism in the pilot 823 is a total pain to clean and use.
