@longbeachsucks: Long Beach Fire Department is evacuating approximately 20 homes on the Penninsula this evening over safety concerns due to the Hurricane Marie swell. (Posted at 8:49pm PST, Monday Sept 7th) - We are evacuating approximately 20 homes along Seaside Walk, from 63rd to 67th Place in Long Beach. This is due to the seawall compromise and damage to the boardwalk. There are also reports of damaged and cracked concrete in between several of these homes. These evacuation orders are being issued out of an abundance of caution while the Building Department evaluates the structural integrity and condition of these homes. We continue to fill and distribute sandbags, with our Long Beach Search and Rescue volunteers, Fire interns, and Police Explorers. Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine Beach Maintenance, and Public Works teams continue to work on storm mitigation efforts to protect the properties. The Long Beach Police Department is assisting with these evacuations, as well as street closures due to flooding and water damage. The Long Beach Health Department is offering assistance to those being displaced, and Long Beach Transit is sending buses to provide immediate shelter for the families displaced.” #longbeachsucks #longbeach #california
