Newport Beach is manmade, this area was marshy swampland before developers created the islands and brought in sand. We need to stop fighting mother nature and work with her. There shouldn't be any permanent buildings on this coastline.

I’ve lived in So Cal all 62 yrs of my life. Spent every summer on these beaches. This is not uncommon. It does happen fairly often. Worse some years than others. They have dredge barges that will bring the sand back after the storms.

You guys I grew up living on the peninsula and this happens once every couple of years. Lifeguards and crews have to use tractors and equipment to move that sand around all the time at balboa pier. It faces the south swell and gets wrecked- this is normal. (Also I believe in climate change lol)

I remember them pumping sand from out at sea onto the beach to prevent this. It’s just erosion and it’s normal.
