Naw. The character was written to be that , but the actor portrayal didn't pull it off very well. There was nothing really intimidating about the portrayal of Furio. On the other hand, the actor who played Richie Aprile knew how to carry it off. He played a character on Everybody Loves Raymond who came across like he would murder you at any moment.
