didn’t mention Java was designed from c++. Except was supposed to protect you by doing a lot of the dirty work for you that could bring the whole system down if not done correctly. And it was also originally designed for small devices. IOT devices.

C does not speak directly to the computer. C is a 3rd level language. C converts to assembly language which converts into machine code.
