@asiaone: In Parliament on Tuesday [Sept 8], Prime Minister Lawrence Wong emphasised that the decision was his own, adding that he does not expect other officeholders to do the same. #sgnews #Singapore #Parliament #minister #Salaries
Why need to tell the world? Do charity need to be public about it meh?

This is not what we want....just decrease the salaries instead of increasing it....reduce GST, reduce the cost of living ....the salaries of you ministers, and rulers ...should be equate with the cost of living of Singapore ..

Good on you PM Wong we respect you. Now we want the rest to do the same and from there can see the distinction whether they serve as a Minister for themselves or for Singaporeans

Still, a fundamental question: why and how does the cabinet decide the increment? These ministers earn very high income salaries, and SG has been quite stable compared to previous developing times. Just wonder the increment is based on what kind of KPI?

His donation qualifies for a 250% tax reduction. Effectively not paying any tax if his taxable income is less than 3.5 million dollars. Make sense to donate.

I'd be ashamed to accept a pay raise as a minister if I see people getting laid off or fresh grads struggling to get jobs. it just doesn't sit right with me. But I guess to be a minister you have to be greedy in the first place.
