I know it “seems” simple but for the love of god. Unless you are 100% sure, leave electrics to the electricians and gas to the plumbers. These are tasks that very rarely give you a second chance when things go wrong.

in one of my Grandads old houses at the top of the stairs there was a light switch that could control the on/off of the lights down stairs, even in the Kitchen, so if you forgot to turn a light off, there was no problem.
