part 5 | reading my entire physical tbr 📖 The Auction by @Sadie Kincaid Author book review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Auction is inspired by beauty and the beast but has a dark mafia twist. The book follows Lincoln Knight, a billionaire recluse, who attends an auction run by the Brotherhood that bids on women. He bids on Imogen, someone who was highly sought after due to being the daughter of a traitor. His bid was the highest, and he brings Imogen home. We also see Imogen’s POV and learn than her parents were murdered by her godfather for being traitors, and she was saved by her grandfather with the condition of turning her over to be auctioned when she turns 21. As a result, she was raised and trained to be the perfect “pet” for the person who will eventually buy her. When Lincoln buys her at the auction, she is ready to do anything for him and even is prepared for any of the horrible acts she heard men may do to her. She slowly learns that Lincoln does not sound like the monster that she was led to believe. Even though she cannot leave the estate, it does not feel like a prison. And Lincoln does not feel like her captor. I was initially nervous to read this book because of some of the trigger warnings and was afraid it was going to be torture p*orn. But thankfully, the author does not go into graphic details. I would still recommend reading trigger warnings. I normally do not read mafia books but was so engaged and captivated throughout the entire book. I do wish the plot was a bit more developed. I felt like the book was more focused on spicy scenes instead of scenes that added to the storytelling. I really enjoyed the relationship development between Imogen and Lincoln because they gave off beauty and the beast vibes. This is the perfect book for anyone who enjoys a morally gray mmc. Also the ending was insane, and I am so ready for the second book! Thank you to @Harlequin Trade Publishing @The Hive @Storygram Tours for the gifted copy ✨ #booktokcommunity #TheAuction, #WagesofSin, #SadieKincaid #storygramtours
