but to anyone who actually pays attention to how people talk and act, this will come off as psychological bullshit. all these little nuances run on the narcissistic assumption that you are always the smartest person in the room, and that you have social strategies that make you appear superior to someone asking a question. “take three guesses.” i don’t want to. to the person you are talking to, it just sounds like you are extremely invested in the topic and are playing weird conversational jujutsu when a regular answer would have sufficed. even in a professional setting, you’re gonna come off as arrogant to anyone you have this attitude toward. people can tell when you’re trying to do these things. it’s not as empowering as you think it is.

my favourite quite comes from Finn and Jake. when someone says "why would you do that?" they reply "why does anyone do anything?" and it always closes the questioning. sometimes they even agree and say "true true"

I needed to see this today. I find myself backed into a corner when I try to explain myself. It gives the other person power over the narrative, because they need to accept your explanation for the case to be closed. If they don’t, you’re stuck in the loop of explaining or stop and feel the weight of not getting them in your side.
