As are most things nowadays, it's more of a culture war between the type of people who wear them. Rolex's are generally worn by people who value visible status and brand recognition. GS generally by people who value understatement, don't care so much about brand recognition and are more IFKYK. But sure how much of a link there is to your political persuasion, but it is there. The forums and some creators stoke this to get clicks and likes. The watches themselves are both fine.
