Someone once told me it’s embarrassing for a woman to open the door for a man. That thought genuinely surprised me. I’ve never viewed a man as having the power to embarrass me or somehow diminish my worth over a simple act of kindness. I don’t care if a woman chooses not to open doors for men that’s her choice, and it’s none of my business. But it’s also nobody’s business if I choose to do something kind and hold the door open for another human bean 🫘 I love seeing couples choose what works for them financially. But let’s also support women who don’t want to depend on a partner, or women who want to be the breadwinner. Ridiculing women for either choice is so boring. Celebrating everyone’s choices is so much more fun. I’m often told there’s “no way” my husband isn’t cheating, or that it’s disrespectful for me to spend time with male friends usually by people who’ve had multiple failed relationships. Meanwhile, my husband has only ever been in one relationship: with me. We’ve been together for 15 years. I had two boyfriends before him, but I’ve only ever truly been in love with one person: him. Clearly, something is working. What works for us is that we’ve decentered the idea of romantic love as ownership. We both stay because we want to, not because we have to. We could leave at any time, but love and trust are what keep us together. That said, I have zero problem telling my husband if I feel gal friend has ulterior motives and I prefer he doesn’t hangout with her, and he feels the same way. I would never choose anyone over my husband’s valid feelings, and he would do the same for me. What upsets me is how comfortable people feel making wild assumptions about relationships that aren’t theirs. And lastly, I see so much hate directed at women who share their lives as traditional wives even when they’re simply sharing their routines and not telling anyone else how to live. Why the hate? Why not celebrate the fact that women today have the freedom to choose the life that feels right for them? Hating women for choosing something that you do not agree with is not feminism, it is a byproduct of the patriarchy . #fakefeminism #feminist #feministiktok #sendintoacoma #traditionalwife
