@theanthonyvets: Ocular dermoids in cats consist of histologically normal but ectopically located skin and adnexal structures on the ocular surface. They most commonly involve the temporal limbus, conjunctiva, or eyelid margin and may contain haired tissue, sebaceous glands, or other cutaneous appendages. Clinical signs range from cosmetic abnormalities to chronic corneal irritation, epiphora, conjunctivitis, and keratitis due to hairs contacting the cornea. Small, non-irritating dermoids can be monitored, while symptomatic lesions are best managed with surgical excision, typically via superficial keratectomy and/or conjunctivectomy depending on the depth and location. Careful dissection is important to preserve healthy corneal tissue and minimize postoperative scarring. #veterinarian #veterinarianlife #vetmed #vetmedicine #vetmedlife
