Radiology PA here: It's nowhere near close enough to becoming "standard of care." It creates more problems than it solves and at the end of the day, who's going to take responsibility when it makes a mistake in this fantasy world everyone is imagining?

My doctor uses an AI scribe, means half our appointment time isn’t taken up by him typing. AI definitely has its place

Maybe AI would have helped find the avulsion fractures in my shoulder though. I dislocated the shoulder in a trauma injury and the ED missed the fractures. I finally took it upon myself to see a shoulder surgeon privately when I still couldn’t move my arm after six weeks

Doctor here. What do think this proves? Which ‘AI’ is this? Studies have already shown AI enhances Radiologists reporting accuracy

AI is trained off of known conditions and their impact on anatomy. When something new happens AI will have no idea what to do. Best case would be a misdiagnosis.

And our stupid current government in NZ is going to allow AI to ‘assist’ in checking mammograms soon. All to cut costs and downsize the workforce. 🤬

It noticed an irregularity. Then in the future you have one radiologist who checks the ai’s work, saving much time, and at the loss of many radiology jobs. I would not specialise in that area for this reason (I am considering where I want to specialise, must be ai proof )

My dentist has started using AI on their x rays and I'm just waiting for it/them to decide all my teeth which have previously been fine are suddenly in desperate need of work 🙄

People don’t seem to understand that AI reads it first flags up abnormalities for human review. So yeah some are bound to be wrong but this should be picked up by a trained professional
