@paul.smith.monaco: My mate once said he spent £4 million to look like a dickhead. His words. What had he bought? An Aston Martin Valkyrie. A completely insane hypercar. And to be fair, it looks incredible. But then reality arrived. He was told there was no proper warranty. The servicing was a nightmare. The first service was due at 1,000km, but the place he had to take it was further away than that. So he had to fly the car there. Then there’s the fuel. About 100 miles on a full tank. And because it’s basically a Formula 1 car for the road, you have to remove the steering wheel to get out. The first time he filled it up, he got back in, put the steering wheel on, and the car started rebooting. Eight minutes. Couldn’t move. Queue behind him. He got out to apologise. Then got back in. Another eight minutes. Lovely little circus. He hated refuelling it so much he started going out at 1am. Now the car sits in a museum costing him around £100,000 a year. Two years in, he reckons it cost him half a million pounds to not drive it. The moral of the story?
