You told the truth to someone whose job is protecting children, and you watched her face change. Suddenly she was being careful. She talked about staying neutral, not getting involved in custody matters, or only being able to speak about what she personally observed. And you walked away wondering if she had just decided you were the difficult parent but there may be another reason for that response. Teachers, counselors, and other professionals often have to be very careful about what they say when custody is involved. They may not want to be asked to take sides or make statements about things they didn’t personally witness. That doesn’t mean you can’t document what they do know. Follow up in writing. For example: “Following up on our conversation today, you mentioned Emma has been arriving without her homework on Mondays. Can you confirm that’s what you’ve been seeing?” You’re not asking her to take your side. You’re asking her to confirm a specific fact she already shared with you. If she confirms it, now you have a dated record of the information and where it came from. Keep your questions factual. Don’t ask the school to interpret the other parent’s behavior or support your position in the custody case. The templates for these emails, along with school portal and records requests, are inside the Custody Warrior Collective. Comment WARRIOR and I’ll send you the link. #custodydocumentation #thirdpartyevidence #schoolcommunication #custodywarrior #breakingbadasscoaching
