Four-year-old Andres “Harry” Furley and his 25-year-old father, Caleb Furley, were found dead in Gainesville, Texas after their disappearance triggered an Amber Alert in Oklahoma. The search began when Harry’s mother, Ivette Perez, went to pick him up from his father’s apartment in Norman, Oklahoma, but discovered that both were missing. Authorities launched an investigation and obtained a warrant accusing Caleb of child stealing after he failed to complete the planned custody exchange. Court documents reveal that family members had reportedly become increasingly worried about Caleb’s behavior in the months before the disappearance. Relatives told investigators that they had concerns about his mental health and that he had stopped attending counseling appointments through the University of Oklahoma several weeks earlier. They also reportedly expressed concerns about changes in his behavior and his refusal to take medication. Perez and Caleb had separated approximately a year earlier. According to the court documents, Perez also told investigators about an incident during the summer when Caleb allegedly entered her home without her knowledge and left behind what she described as a shrine dedicated to her. As investigators worked to locate the father and son, they tracked Caleb’s movements using phone-location information and license-plate camera footage. His phone was reportedly found near Lake Thunderbird in Oklahoma, close to a bridge. Meanwhile, cameras captured his truck traveling through Noble, Oklahoma, on October 12, before it was later spotted in Cooke County, Texas. The investigation eventually brought authorities to Gainesville, where a report had been made about a suspicious encounter involving a man and a child at a business on North Grand Avenue. After reviewing surveillance footage, investigators spotted what appeared to be Caleb and Harry walking away from the business. On Wednesday, October 14, an investigator searching the surrounding area discovered the bodies of a man and a child in a wooded area. Authorities later confirmed that they were Caleb and Harry. Texas authorities are assisting with the investigation as officials work to determine what happened to the father and son.
