Working with lye, which is highly caustic and requires proper safety equipment (so please don't try this one at home), he makes a solution that reacts with the aluminum, converting it into a compound that dissolves in water. When the aluminum is gone, you can see the polymer coating! That’s also a great source of pfas. Just like tomatoes in a tin etc. 8g of diced tomatoes from a tin can contains the daily maximum of pfas for a child

This makes me wonder how they are recycling cans. Do they have to do the opposite and dissolve the polymers so they are left with aluminum? Is that even possible?
