@therealjeremyknight: 🤖 What if some of the outrage you're seeing about AI data centers isn't actually coming from Americans? Comment "Jeremy" to join the mailing list X says it uncovered a massive Chinese bot network of roughly 200,000 accounts, with some accounts posting content that could manipulate the U.S. debate around AI, data centers and energy policy, including claims about higher electricity bills and strain on the power grid. The timing is interesting because opposition to AI data centers is already growing. A recent Gallup poll found 71% of Americans oppose having an AI data center built in their area, while Central Texas communities are debating water, electricity, noise and billions of dollars in new development. Those concerns can absolutely be legitimate, but it raises another question: when hundreds of accounts suddenly pile into a local debate, how many are actually real people? I can assure you, the outrage is real, this is such a silly take. Texas already has a weak power grid and limited water supply and now we have these huge data centers coming in to suck up both of those things? Of course people are gonna be outraged, and rightfully so. They’re also continues to be more and more information coming out about how a data Center can operate without the noise levels that they’re producing and without the water usage that they’re currently proposing so that kind of stuff is making people even more angry. And furthermore, whether anyone wants to admit it or not China is a light years ahead of the US.

Are we really going to believe X and Elon Musk who is heavily invested in AI? I think not.
