It’s sad how we blame the government for everything, while ignoring the corruption among ourselves. I witnessed a patient being denied a hospital bed despite seeing empty beds—simply because others had paid to secure theirs. (Settlement for bed space) Yes, our government is corrupt, but we also need to admit that we can be corrupt to one another. Nigeria’s problem isn’t only bad leadership; it’s also a bad mindset among the people.

Sadly, it will happen again. I can bet anything that no healthcare professional can get a job on merit in any federal teaching hospital in Nigeria today. People now pay millions to secure slots, even for internships. That gives them the temerity to be lackadaisical, that's if they are even competent to begin with.
