He wrote a book with that title in 2023, and the rule is the reason Waze survived America. He learned it over eighteen years as an employee, eleven of them at Comverse, where he started as a developer and finished as VP of marketing. Both his Waze co-founders came from Comverse too. Ehud Shabtai wrote the code. Levine's job was to understand the driver, so when the app failed in America he was looking at the drivers, and the drivers still hated traffic. That is why he kept the product and fixed the map. He handed the map to the drivers, paid them in points for covering unmapped roads, and had seventeen thousand people fixing it by the end of 2009. By 2013, fifty million drivers were building it, and Google paid just over a billion dollars. Waze's hundred employees took home an average of $1.2 million each, the largest staff payout in Israeli tech history. Then he did it again. He was the first investor in Moovit, which used the same rule on public transport, and Intel bought it for about a billion dollars in 2020. He now counts five children and eleven startups.
