Its facial recognition from the cameras. I went in, left my phone at home and paid cash and my last purchase showed up in the app.

Verizon is working with Walmart. It's deep in their privacy policy.

They are primarily doing this through facial recognition, your phone, your CC, and their app. I don’t have the Walmart app. I had my phone, not connected to their wifi. I purchased 1 product. Price changed from shelf to register. I used my CC to pay. My next visit, I will wear a mask, leave my phone in the car, turned off. I will report my findings. Everyone needs to save their receipts for the class action discrimination suit.

One guy mentioned his experience where he went to WM with no phone, paid in cash and the app still recognized what he bought.

I work at a Walmart. They get ur location if u use their wifi. Best things: 1- dont shop there 2- dont use their app (use their web page thru the Brave webbrowser) 3- use a separate phone, for the web page thru Brave browser; put ur main phone in a Faraday pouch

Just throwing it out there for everyone to be aware. Since we live in a very internet center time, it’s time to get a VPN. Do your research on them not all FREE VPNs are good and i understand money problems. But VPNs are a good way to have consistent encryption on your wireless devices!

It’s also possible that the software doesn’t actually turn off stuff. Just because you toggle a button, you don’t know what it’s actually doing underneath. Former software engineer here 🙋🏻♀️
