In the books Aegon knows High Valyrian he’s also very serious and extremely unforgiving to traitors. He has a good relationship with his brother Aemond, as well as with his Mother and his Grandfather Otto and looks to Ser Criston as a Father Figure (Alicent and Ser Criston Cole DO NOT have a relationship with one another outside of being plotting partners) ; the show butchered his character.

While it was shown (show only) that Aegon doesn’t speak Valyrian properly, I highly doubt that he doesn’t know basic commands for his dragon since he loved to ride. I think the producers just forgot about it or intentionally made him to look dumb.
