I think it’s insane how some men are trying to make the excuse of 🍇ing due to testosterone, a thing. B/c of this case.

Why is everyone acting like this is the first time anyone has ever pleaded insanity? Did they think it was just a thing that happened in Gotham to keep supervillians in the narrative? lol

I see a lot of men now saying that she set women back for what she did. It makes me so mad because one person’s actions shouldn’t reflect on all women. A lot of the discourse is from guys just being incredibly misogynistic. They make women seem like hormonal monsters, that are one second away from killing their children.

I just find it ironic that it’s mostly coming from men too, the same men that cry about no one caring for men’s mental health…….btw more men have experienced psychosis and have plead NGRI.

they also think she will just be walking free around society if she’s found guilty by insanity.. like she’s either going to prison or going to a high security mental institution that is still equivalent to prison

Yeah but I think the general public is too stupid to understand this concept. They are so reactionary and don’t understand nuance it’s infuriating

things that can bring on a psychotic break are huge life changes and stressor, idk like pushing out and caring for a tiny human who needs you constantly. it can be rewarding but sleep deprivation is a real bitch

Thank you, tried to explain this to multiple people in my irl life. A person with psychosis are not responsible for their actions- to me it is not a difficult concept to understand, but I lack the ability to explain it properly to someone uninformed of conditions like this.

Agree but also on the other side, people don’t realise that those auditory hallucinations don’t tend to only come once and then never again. So a break from reality looks less likely in this case

My biggest takeaway from the trial isn’t about mental illness, it’s that the general public has no idea how our legal system works

i don't think enough people understand what a psychosis is, it's a literal break from reality and it's terrifying

People seem to think that if she gets found guilty she'll be locked up for a very long time and if she's found not guilty by reason of insanity she'll just get to go home. Like no, she'll still be locked up for a very long time just in a different institution
