My headcanon/theory is that a lot of the early polytheistic religions (specifically ancient Mesopotamian paganism and Levantine/Arabian paganism) were actually based off of gems/gem battles witnessed by early humans. And plus they mention a “battle for the ziggurat” in the bismuth episode, and ziggurat’s were ancient Mesopotamian temples so it kinda tracks
