Ethan is a “bad” guy. But he is not cartoonishly evil, which is what people expect bad people to be in media. Bad people aren’t bad all the time nor are they hateful all the time. We have seen multiple times what Ethan thinks of Bea and what Ethan’s friends think of Ethan in relationships. The best part of this show is that they are doing a fantastic job at portraying “bad” people in a realistic setting where the “bad” parts aren’t their only characteristic, they also have charm and struggles.

something i think is very interesting is that her relationship with ethan isn't bad per se, he really seems to have changed and grown as a person in order to be ready to date mote seriously. what causes all the friction (and has been highlighted in the past few episodes) is that bea *is* changing as she gets closer and more involved with ethan; not that change is bad in itself, byt it is happening and, for better or worse, bea doesn't seem to be too aware of it. so cam and yaz (mainly yas in this instance) notice she is acting difference and call her out on it, each in their own way, but they do overstep sometimes (maybe out o concern, jealousy, disapproval or a mix of all three) and because of this and bea not fully realizing what's happening she sometimes gets mad and is abrasive too, creating a big ol' mess. do i think ethan is right for her? not at all. but is it because i think he is a bad person? not really. do i think cam and yaz are doing a poor job of communicating their concerns to bea? of course. do i also think bea is not in touch with herself to notice her own changes? absolutely

the look between Yaz and Bea at the end breaks my heart. it's one thing to fight with your boyfriend but making your best friend feel that way is hurtful in some other soul crushing kind of way. I don't think this is the relationship for Bea and I know she'll figure it out eventually. she's a smart girl.
