Medieval Norse sources describe King Olaf Tryggvason using forced conversion, threats, torture and killing against people who resisted Christianity and remained attached to the Old Norse religion. Olaf Tryggvason ruled Norway from 995 to 1000 and became one of the central figures in the conversion of Viking Age Scandinavia from Norse paganism to Christianity. Important historical context: the most detailed stories of torture and execution come from medieval sources written generations later, especially the Norse sagas. They preserve the tradition of a violent conversion, but individual episodes should not all be treated as contemporary eyewitness accounts. It fills me with rage every time I see and hear of it…Christians back then were so power & control hungry, even now they still hold such hunger. I don’t ever wanna go back to that environment, not even my family can convert me…and I hope they never dare try. I’m happier where I am now, in my short time as a Pagan I’ve never felt so alive and free, and I don’t plan on letting go. Lithuania was the last pagans in Europe, later our "fake" king Mindaugas took the crown from the church and declared he is christian, later he turned back to be pagan, but the damage was already done.
